GCC member organizations City Green Solutions, Reep Green Solutions, and reThink Green are working with municipalities to foster deep carbon emissions. Each has received a Transition 2050 grant through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Municipalities for Climate Innovation Program (MCIP).

The grants, funded by the Government of Canada, have been awarded to 10 organizations to support municipalities, in regions across the country, develop plans and policies for carbon emission reduction projects.

  • City Green Solutions, Victoria, BC, will advise on low carbon heating systems through retrofits.
  • Reep Green Solutions, Kitchener, ON, will undertake pilot projects in the building and transportation sectors.
  • reThink Green, Sudbury, ON will work to enhance municipal staff literacy on climate mitigation, and developing municipal energy profiles, GHG inventories, and climate policy resources.

The MCIP initiative will help Canadian municipalities reach emission targets set by the Paris Agreement.
