Drawing on provincial data and first-hand accounts, this report analyzes the opportunities and challenges that the electrification of school transportation represents for the Canadian workforce. The energy transition, still in its infancy, is necessary due to its climate, economic, and public health benefits. However, it is predominantly unfolding in a private sector characterized by labour shortages, an aging workforce, and structural challenges that must be addressed to ensure a truly fair transition for workers and small transport operators.
