Green Communities Canada has been informed of a security incident affecting our website between 8pm ET Sunday, February 23 and 5:00pm ET Tuesday, February 25.
The website’s main homepage was altered by an unauthorized individual to include instructions to copy and paste a set of malicious commands on the user’s computer. We believe this attack may have been intended to steal passwords or other stored information within the user’s web browser.

February 27 UPDATE: We have taken action to secure the website and remove the malicious content. However, if you had already visited the page between February 23 and 25, 2025, and followed the instructions indicated by the malicious individual, we recommend you ensure that your computer is scanned for malware, and that you update any passwords that may have been used on the same computer used to access the website.
