As I look back on 2022, I’m so inspired by our network of local climate organizations. Across Canada, our members are engaging with residents, businesses, and governments to accelerate low-carbon solutions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Although this is a global crisis, we know that local people are the best positioned to understand and respond to the unique needs of their communities. GCC’s approach has always been to support grassroots organizations by providing training, funding, and services that build our collective capacity. We also bring our partners together to share, learn, and collaborate toward greater impact.

The heaviness of the climate crisis weighs on many who work across our sector, including me. But as I reflect on my first full year at Green Communities Canada, I feel truly privileged to have the opportunity to deepen and expand our programs together. To all who work, volunteer, or support an organization within our network, I want to extend my gratitude: thank you, thank you, thank you, for your commitment to our shared future.

I hope December brings joy and rest and I look forward to reconnecting in 2023.
