This month marks the 25th anniversary of Green Communities Canada (GCC).

GCC was founded in April 1995 at a gathering in Cornwall, ON, as a province-wide network of community organizations committed to the delivery of positive, practical community engagement programs. In 1996, GCC incorporated as a non-profit, the Green Communities Association; in the new century the name was changed to Green Communities Canada, reflecting the organization’s national scope and membership.

“Today, Green Communities and their umbrella organization continue to work bottom up to create a culture of sustainability,” says former and founding Executive Director Clifford Maynes. “The world needs transformational change and now more than ever GCC and its members are helping to make that happen.”
