Green Communities Canada (GCC) is excited to announce Brianna Salmon has been hired as Executive Director, effective July 2021.

“We are thrilled Brianna is taking the helm during this critical period,” says GCC Board Chair Shannon Costigan. “Canada has ambitious climate targets to reach over the next decade and GCC will have a significant role in ensuring that it does. We are confident Brianna has the skills and experience to guide GCC as it advances climate action and works to create a more vibrant and equitable future for all.”

Brianna takes over from Carol Steuri who has led GCC over the past year.

“We are grateful to Carol for her outstanding leadership. She’s been a shining light who has inspired staff, our members, and the Board with her commitment, passion, and enthusiasm for climate action and climate justice,” says Shannon. “We wish her all the best.”

Brianna is currently Executive Director of GCC member organization GreenUP, an award-winning environmental non-profit organization in the Peterborough region. Under her tenure GreenUP has experienced sustained growth in both programming and partnerships to address the critical challenges of our time, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental justice.
