Green Communities Canada’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) has advanced through a shared, facilitated process with our member organizations.

Led by EDII Project Manager Sunita Gupta, project partners participated in a series of webinars, discussions, and workshops over the last eight months, engaging in a meaningful interchange of information on topics such as racism, ableism, homophobia, unconscious-bias, privilege, and colonialism.

A project highlight was participation in the Kairos Blanket Exercise, an interactive and experiential teaching tool that explores the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.

Each project partner has established an EDII Strategy for their organization. These strategies, along with a shared resource library and other tools developed under the project, will aid us in expanding our network’s capacity to accelerate justice-focused climate solutions that centre on and engage those most affected by climate change.

The EDII Project was funded by the Government of Canada’s Community Services Recovery Fund.
