The purpose of this resource is to increase knowledge and awareness of active transportation among students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Description

The school curriculum presents many opportunities for students to learn about how people move and the role of active and sustainable modes of transportation in society. Lessons can be enhanced by engaging students to collect and interpret real-life data about travel behaviours at their school and in the neighbourhood.

For example, results from a Student Travel Survey can be linked to the math curriculum as part of data management. Routes to School Maps can be linked to geography, history, and social studies curricula by exploring features of the built environment and how they influence our travel mode choices.

Many classroom learning activities can also be used effectively by extracurricular programs and clubs.
