Membership Levels

Full Member

Associate Member

Membership Criteria:

As outlined in POLICY: GC Membership

The GC must be satisfied that membership criteria will be met in the near future.

Annual fee:

Fees for each category will be established by the GC Board of Directors, and reviewed from time to time

Membership in the corporation and voting:

Full members are members of the corporation, and possess the rights of powers of membership as outlined in Bylaw 1, such as voting at the Annual General Meeting and other members' meetings. Representatives of full member organizations can attend GC Board meetings as non-voting observers.

Associate members are not members of the corporation, and therefore have none of the rights flowing from corporate membership. Representatives of associate member organizations can attend GC Board meetings as non-voting observers.

Home Energy Efficiency :

Subcontracts with the GC are restricted to full members in Ontario.

Ineligible.

Joint programs and partnerships:

First right of refusal.

Eligible to participate, subject to full members first right of refusal.

Territory:

Full members:

  • will serve defined territories, generally conforming to upper-tier or other appropriate municipal boundaries;
  • will have territorial exclusivity vis a vis other full members within their defined territories (except where there is mutual agreement among two or more full GC members to share a territory and/or programs, and the GC Board approves);
  • will have veto authority over the approval of new associate members within their defined territories. (Program-specific territorial assignments may also be established contractually for GC joint projects. See: GC Policy: EGH Service Territories.)

Associate members:

  • will serve defined territories, generally conforming to upper-tier or other appropriate municipal boundaries
  • will not have territorial exclusivity

Services:

Full members are entitled to full services from GC staff, subject to available resources.

Associate members are entitled to limited services from the GC office (approximate two hours per annum) by virtue of their membership; additional services may be provided in the context of funded joint projects, or on a cost-recovery basis.
